Keyboarding is an essential skill for our ever-evolving technological world. Students in Coalhurst's 1 to 1 computing program have great access to their computer laptops throughout the day. This means more and more assignments are being produced on the computer. Students must learn the basics of "touch typing" in order to get the most out of their computer.
The link to Dance Mat Typing below will help students eventually progress from typing 5-10 words/minute to 20-30 words/minute. Getting the mechanics of typing out of the way will help students type fast enough to keep up with the flow of ideas that come when they write. Please help your child become better keyboarders by checking in with their typing activities from time to time. We do allot some time during our busy week to practice keyboarding in class, but students will progress much more quickly if they also practice at home. Your cooperation in this matter is very much appreciated!
